[bit.listserv.history] Gorbachev

Donald Trump just told Playboy he feels Gorbachev is weak & will not be
in power much longer. In light of the problems in the Baltics and the Moslem
Republics, what do you think "Gorby's" strategy should be. Morton Kondracke
recently said he believes the new Soviet Union will be composed of the Russian
Federated Socialist Republic, the Ukraine, & the GEorgian Republic. What do
youthink? As I type this CNN is announcing that Gorbachev is expected to
 resign
next week. History in the making. Was there a period similar to this in
 recenthistory...1848?

Excuse me, Donald Trump? Morton Kondracke? Could we please also have
Willard Scott's opinions? Then we could have a real corker of a
historical pow-wow.

Mr. Baublitz,

I understand from your reponse to Herschel that you are not entirely
satisfied with his(?) answer to your "what do you think" questions of
February the 1st.

Does it help if I discredit your sources too??

OK, my opinions are: CNN is not reliable, Donald Trump's
feelings has little to do with real life etc..

And last, the reason I don't think history repeats itself
is because of the vast improvements in communication. What
was an option in the past might no longer be thinkable.
