[alt.cosuard] COSUARD MEETING

NANCY.WARD@p6.f889.n106.z1.fidonet.org (NANCY WARD) (01/12/90)

Phillip, COSUARD is a Houston, Texas based organization. We were not
going "national" until after the organization was in "operation" for
quite some time. Of course, we don't expect someone from New York or
Florida to come to our meetings.
-----
The announcement was put on the COSUARD BBS for those who wish to come,
whether they live in Texas or anywhere else. If you attended our
meetings, you would find that there are a couple or three diehards from
Austin who do go to the troule of attending as many meetings as they
can. There is a man coming to Houston this weekend (I think he is here
today). I would be willing to bet that if there were a COSUARD meeting
today, he would be there.
-----
Getting back to the point, COSUARD "echos" inside Houston as well as
nationally. If you will look at the taglines on messages, you will find
that we are also getting echos from other Houston BBSes. Therefore, it
was appropriate to put the announcement of the next meeting here in the
echo. Also, there will probably be a report or two on the meeting after
it has happened. Since the "national" people will know there will have
been a meeting, they will be sure to tune in on their echo to see if
they can find out about that meeting, such as what happened, etc.
-----
Everyone knows that it is impossible for the out of towners to attend;
however, if the announcement were not put here, then the Houston people
wouldn't know about the meeting either!!!!!

>for COSUARD meetings? Isn't this a national echo.? I reallize that
>COSUARD is a national group, but isn't it kind of rediculous to expect
>EVERYONE all over the UNITED STATES and the WORLD to expect to come?
>Excuse me for interupting abruptly like this, but that just kinda cough
>attention... Phillip
>

Phillip, no "I" don't expect folks to fly in for a meeting, but I would
think there would be MORE participation from the LOCAL SYSOPS of
Houston. If the LOCAL folks would participate, there would not be
enough room for everyone to sit down...at the present location!

I have been SysOping for awhile now, and you have always found your way
to my board(s). You have enjoyed running a board yourself, do you
participate in COSUARD? Shame....and you live in Pasadena!

But there are local Houston BBS's that do pick this echo up and we do
need to tell them when the meetings are being held. That is a very good
reason from this end.
