[alt.cosuard] FCC DATA CHARGES ARE DEAD

BILL.BLOMGREN@p6.f889.n106.z1.fidonet.org (BILL BLOMGREN) (01/13/90)

I keep trying to squash the FCC rumor message, but it keeps cropping up
all over the place... Mabe it will give the fcc a bad idea? ARGH

NW>Thanks for your post on the FCC rumor. I posted (I think the same) o
NW>here too. I think it is making the rounds now. I picked the message
NW>posted on the National CoCo Echo. Maybe we will see the end of this
NW>once and for all in the near future.

..Well, notice that Bill Degnan has another thread of potential trouble
they're brewing in the Opn Network Access hearings on in Washington. It
seems they're trying over there to get Congress to let them sell all
kinds of stuff..and it will certainly be described as a "premium"
product over there. Look out for Injuns at the back door of the cabin!
(Put on your cast-iron corset, Granny. The arrows will bounce off it!)
. EZ 1.24 . Can you fillus in more on this, Lt. Data?

.Well,I adhere to a philosophy that says if they keep getting letters,
it will show them how long a trail they leave, and that who KNOWS how
many taxpayers are watching them and writing to Congressmen about any
antics they might try.
..I saw some posts on here that ring a bit of what you kinda
indicate...that maybe we have to fear the minions of the government. If
America gets that way, we are really on its last legs.

If you can, catch the article by Lewis Lapham in the December Harper's.
According to Lapham, America's already got that way. The article blasts
the hysteria of the drug war, but is really an attack on the continual
encroachment by the government on individual freedoms. Very persuasive.

Bill, I think the reason this one on the FCC keeps cropping up is that
it is echo'd all around. Sooner or later, folks will realize it is not
true through the posts giving the true situation. Enough people have
responded to this to squash it eventually. I guess the best policy
would be to just ignore further messages about it and let the true
information catch up to it.

Now how did you know I was a granny?????? I read that post on from Bill
too, and it would bear watching also. Too bad the false rumor was
started before we saw that one. Kinda like the kid who cried wolf.
