[alt.cosuard] IT'S KINDA ODD....

When pulse dialing, it is very important that the pulse rate and make to
break ratio are acceptable to the SLIC (subscriber line interface
card) to which you are attached. With many modems, it's easy to out run
the phone company. Most Hayes compatible modems use AT&Pn where
n=0=39/61 make/break ratio (the standard) and n=1=33/67 make/break. Set
for AT&P0 for starters (if possible). The pulse rate is usually not
settable. You probably just got noisy.

I didn't know that COSUARD was sanctioning or not sanctioning things.

re: COSUARD sanctioning

Ed Hopper said that it would not be beneficial for COSUARD to
participate in that action. I guess maybe sanctioning might be the
wrong word....

Dan, if you know so much about writting, runnin a BBS, why don't you
VOLUNTEER your system...your modem...your electricity and do something
constructive with your time instead of picking everyone apart!

Thanks for clearing up the sanctioning issue. As for running a BBS. I
ran a public BBS for year and had enough trouble with the phone company,
users' parents, hardware, software, users, etc. that I gave it up. That
was several years ago. Now I run a for profit company based system (at
business rates) for our customers. It is private.
As for volunteering... Although, as you know, I am not a member of
COSUARD, I volunteer my time through this system daily. If what I have
to say bothers people, I don't really mind. If you, as sysop, or one of
the COSUARD officials ask to me leave I will. I don't NEED this, Jim. I
enjoy the people, the issue and the discussion.
