Greetings, headbangers!! The WHITE METAL NEWS returns!! Did
you all have happy Holidays?? Good!! Incidently, alot of others
 enjoyed the holidays too...
On December 26, the following LP's came out to the stores:
             1) The Crucified - (self-titled) on Pure Metal
             2) Torn Flesh - Crux of the Mosh on Pure Metal
             3) Heavy Riteous Metal Chapter 2 on Pure Metal
And, because I don't have any other pieces of REAL news for
you I'm going to REVIEW ALL THREE of the above!!!

***************
 The Crucified, self-titled (Pure Metal)
I carefully examined this band because I KNEW that they would
be good. Was I in for a surprise - it was downright FANTASTIC!!
Oh, it does have its downers, like the production, but then again,
maybe that's the way they wanted it...
The BEST way to describe the sounds of The Crucified would be
"Christian M.O.D" Yes, it's a unique choice, but that's what you
get! Listen to the song "Hellcorn" and not only will the MUSIC
sound like MOD a la "Gross Misconduct," but the very lyrics them-
selves also - that harsh, backbiting, insulting manner that MOD
 would portray appears here...
Another SHOCKING tune on the LP is "A Guy in a Suit and the
Pope". Beware of this song - it's strong with conviction!! Most
of the songs on the tape are mid two-to-three minutes long.
      Well worth your thrash money!!

Torn Flesh, "Crux of the Mosh" (Pure Metal)
I was sort-of anxious to listen to their debut LP, simply because
of their entry on Underground Metal, "No Surfin' in Hell." That song
had sloppy guitars and poor drums, and fast lyrics, but it was GOOD
because it was still thrash (I'm such a nut :-) ).
The tape started with "Torn Flesh (Crux of the Mosh)" I couldn't
believe my ears! The song was strong, well-composed, but the lyrics
were still fast. Well, it was great anyway! They improved on their
sound 10 times over, and relied alot less on sound effects. This song
was, however, one of the BEST on the album. Among the other good
points was a song called "Polluted Earth" (?) Check out the LAST
verse of the song and you'll hear that they uh.. give credit to alot
of famous bands like Motley Crue, etc.. he he he Another song that
has an MOD-ish type of nature is a song called "Gay Rights" (oh, don't
you just LOVE what I've got to tell you! he he he) It's all right
here for you to check out! It's just waiting for you at your local
 Christian bookstore!! It is ULTIMATE!

Heavy Riteous Metal Chapter 2 (Pure Metal)
I had no idea that they were planning to make a second one. Well
I was a bit skeptic at first, because when you sum it all up, the 1st
one wasn't that hot... until I saw it and what bands were on it.
Here's a list of all the bands/songs and what I thought:

 XALT, "Piercing the Darkness"
Good sound, good harmony, good rhythm... It was just an all-around
GOOD song... (I heard a rumor that these guys used to go by the name
of *Pinhead*. Is that true, Dino??)

 THE CRUCIFIED, "Hellcorn"
     (you just read it!!!)

TORN FLESH, "Torn Flesh (Crux of the Mosh"
     (you read this one too!!!)

 LUST CONTROL, "Madolyn Murray O'Hair"
Best described as hardcore/thrash/punk. It was a FAST-paced song,
with downright TERRIBLE vocals (which is good :-) ) and bad produc-
tion. It's just great! The song ends, and then starts up again for a
coupla more seconds, and then ends again.

 LEGACY, "Cross The Line"
I can't say enough for this band... Phil said that they weren't a
METAL act. O contraire!! This is a VERY IMPRESSIVE SPEED-Metal act!!
Heavy riffing, good sound and production, great vocals! At times it
changes to a faster paced song (nothing outlandish though). Check out
the harmonious solo!! The BEST song on the album!

 WHITECROSS, "Your Attention Please"
They even picked a good Whitecross tune, considering their latest
 LP wasn't that good!

 TEMPEST, "Rock for the Light"
Considering how they look and how the voice sounds exactly IDENTI-
CAL to that of Jon Bon Jovi, this band does an AWESOME KICKIN' JOB!!

 ROSANNA'S RAIDERS, "I'm Ready"
This is generally just a plain rock band with a few good tunes,
but they picked their BEST ONE YET for HRM 2!!

 ONE BAD PIG, "Looney Tune"
This is about the FUNNIEST tune I've ever heard! And it's a
thrashy type of tune also!! One Bad Pig's BEST also!!

BRIDE, "Until the End We Rock"
It's STILL a good song, but I think they could have picked a bet-
ter one from the "Silence is Madness" LP, like say, "No More Night-
 mares" or something...

I NEVER would have thought that Pure Metal would go all out this
wild!! I have always thought of PM as being the more conservative of
the metal labels.... Oh well, we all learn lessons everyday!!

Mosh it up all sk8 r@s!!!
