VANCOUVER, British Columbia (UPI) -- Brett Hull scored the
game-winner at 18:12 of the second period to highlight a four-goal St.
Louis rally Friday night that lifted the Blues to a 5-2 triumph over the
Vancouver Canucks.
Trailing 2-1, the Blues scored two of their four power-play goals
to take the lead late in the second period.
The first came at 17:15 with the Canucks two men short. Vancouver
goaltender Kirk McLean made a great save off a shot from Hull, but Paul
MacLean was alone at the side of the net to pop in his 18th goal of the
year.
With Vancouver one man short, Hull came over the Canucks' blue line
and fired a shot wide, but he picked up the rebound off the end boards
and slipped his 38th goal through McLean's legs.
The Blues got another power-play goal at 1:37 of the third period
when Sergio Momesso batted a pass from Hull past McLean to notch his
17th of the year.
Steve Tuttle added an empty net goal with 55 seconds left to seal
the game.
St. Louis opened the scoring on the powerplay at 12:32 of the first
period when Rod Brind'Amour one-timed a pass from Adam Oates to collect
his 15th goal of the season.
Vancouver tied the score 1-1 at 10:20 of the second period after
Gordie Roberts failed to clear the puck from his zone. Doug Lidster
deflected the puck to Trevor Linden, who spun and fired a 40-foot slap
shot past St. Louis goalie Vincent Riendeau to notch his 10th goal of
the year. For Linden, it was his first goal in 15 games.
Dan Quinn scored his 10th goal and his first as a Canuck on the
powerplay to give Vancouver a 2-1 lead at 14:30 of the second.
