BUFFALO, N.Y. (UPI) -- Doug Bodger scored a goal and added two assists Wednesday night to lead the Buffalo Sabres to a 6-3 victory over the Quebec Nordiques and a sweep of the teams' home-and-home series. Quebec's Paul Gillis opened the scoring 7:29 into the first period. Gillis took a Steve Finn pass, went in on a breakaway and fired a slap shot past the glove of Sabre goaltender Daren Puppa. Ray Sheppard tied the score 1-1 at 13:00 with Buffalo skating with a 5-on-3 advantage. Pierre Turgeon threw a pass in front of the net that deflected off Quebec goaltender Scott Gorden to Sheppard in the slot for a 15-foot backhander. Quebec took a 2-1 lead with a power-play goal at 18:16 when Tony McKegney one-timed a Gillis pass from deep in the slot past Puppa's glove. Bodger pulled Buffalo back to 2-2 with a power-play goal at 7:50 of the second period, converting the rebound of Mike Foligno's slapshot. Darin Kimble gave the Nordiques a 3-2 lead with a power-play goal at 16:51 when he tipped in a Mario Marois shot from the point. Benoit Hogue tied the score 3-3 at 3:59 of the third period when he stickhandled around the defense and put in a 10-foot wrist shot low to the glove side. Mike Ramsey gave Buffalo a 4-3 lead at 6:38 when his 55-foot slapshot hit Gorden's glove and deflected into the net. Mike Foligno made it 5-3 on a power play with 4:27 left when he tipped in a Bodger point shot. Scott Arniel added an empty-net goal with 10 seconds left.
