IRVINE, Scotland (UPI) -- England's Mark King won the Scottish Cross Country Union centenary international 10 km race Sunday despite missing a turn at the start of the third lap. King clocked 32 minutes 24 seconds to beat Sweden's Hakon Borjesson, winner of the last world championships. Borjesson was timed in 32:27 and Scot Alastair Douglas was third in 32:33. King and Douglas were running together on the second lap, leading the field by about 40 meters. Going into lap three, with their heads down into the fierce wind, they missed a sharp left turn and lost their advantage. King recovered well, but Douglas was unable to make it back to the front.
