SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (UPI) -- Elmira was the only school to successfully defend its title in the third annual OSAA High School Cheerleading Championships held Saturday at Springfield High School. Elmira, winner of the Class AA title last year, captured the Class AA large division crown (with eight to 16 competitors) Saturday as the competition was divided into two divisions. Dallas earned the judges' vote for top spot in the Class AA small division. Springfield, runner-up last year in the Class AAA small division, moved up to the top spot this year, and Sprague was awarded the title in the Class AAA large division. Portland Christian finished on top in the Class A/B Division competition. Winners in each division were: --Class AAA large division (11 to 16 and mixed) - 1, Sprague. 2, Aloha. 3, Hillsboro. --Class AAA small division (10 or fewer) - 1, Springfield. 2, Glencoe. 3, Beaverton. --Class AA large division (8 to 16 or mixed) - 1, Elmira. 2, Junction City. 3, The Dalles. --Class AA small (7 or fewer) - 1, Dallas. 2, Siuslaw. 3, Marist. --Class A/B - 1, Portland Christian. 2, Santiam Christian. 3, Yoncalla.
