LANDOVER, Md. (UPI) -- Jeff Malone scored 12 of his season-high 40 points during a decisive third period run Friday and the Washington Bullets kept the Sacramento Kings winless at the Capital Centre since 1983 with a 108-99 victory. The Bullets outscored Sacramento 14-3 in the opening 3:40 of the third period to jump to a 63-50 lead, as Malone hit on 6-of-7 shots from the field during the run to give Washington control of the game. Washington, 16-29, snapped a two-game losing streak and dealt the Kings, 12-32, their fourth straight loss. The Bullets have won six straight home games against Sacramento, last losing at the Capital Centre to the Kings on Nov. 15, 1983, and five straight games overall. Harold Pressley's 3-point jumper drew Sacramento within 84-79 with 8:19 to play in the game before the Bullets retaliated with a 9-2 run fueled by 6 points from rookie Ed Horton for a 93-81 lead. Horton scored a season-high 18 points and Mark Alarie added 16 points. Malone's scoring total topped the 39 points he scored on Jan. 11 against Miami. Malone had 26 points in the second half on 11-of-15 shooting. Rodney McCray scored 26 points and Wayman Tisdale added 21 for the Kings. After Sacramento wiped out a 31-22 deficit after one period with a 16-2 run, Washington outscored the Kings 11-4 to end the second period for a 49-47 halftime lead, with Horton scoring 7 points during the run.
