A week or so ago, Ken Steele mentioned in passing FWAKE-L, a newsgroup devoted exclusively to Joyce's FINNEGANS WAKE. Does Ken or anyone else perchance have its full BITNET address? Needless to say, I enjoyed most of the messages that I read and I would li ke to commend those who started the Humanist. For us here, in Beer Sheva, it is a window on the wide world and helps us to keep abreast with what is going o on elsewhere besides politics and politics. It also turned out that I learned a lot about Humanitieis, the MLA, the exposure to different viruses, and the possibility of being beamed out from our orbit by the nasty and greedy telephon e company. (I used to live in the States prior to de-regulation= life was simp ler and CHEAPER then). So, I am basically a Humanist and I want to continue to be so, despite the fact that professionally I am not in the Humanities. As you may have seen from my submitted cv in November, I am a political socio- logist interested in ethnic relations and Sephardi studies. And I am therefore interested to know if there is a Social Scientists Club comparable to that of the Humanist anywhere. I would appreciate any information on this and any suggestions you may have. In the meantime, keep up the good work and the Humanists on the ball! Thanks everyone, Maurice.
