Here's a summary of a few CD-ROM brochures I picked up at Midwinter that I thought might be of interest to PACS-L users. Anyone else run across some CD-ROMs that looked interesting? How about The Greatest Literary Works of All Time? This is the full text of the Constitution Papers, the complete works of Shakespeare, two versions of the Bible, and selected works by Mark Twain, Thoreau, Henry James, Jack London, Walt Whitman, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and others. Using the WordCruncher software, this products sells for $249. The salesperson tells me that this includes the right to network the product. Bowker Electronic Publishing released its Reference Plus series: Library Reference Plus, Children's Reference Plus, and SciTech Reference Plus. These CD-ROMs which are updated annually, contain a mix of useful information. For example, SciTech Reference Plus ($995) contains all sci-tech books from BIP, all sci-tech serials from Ulrich's Plus, all U.S. and Canadian scientists from American Men and Women of Science, all R&D labs from the Directory of American Research and Technology, and all technology firms from Corporate Technology Directory.
