NMOSER@NAS.BITNET (Nancy Moser) (01/16/90)
----------------------------Original message---------------------------- *To: Nancy Moser PC/Computing ran a blurb in the v2,n10 (October 1989) issue (p.55) about an organization known as Global Technology, Inc. that accepts used computer equipment from U.S. organizations and then donates that equipment to schools, orphanages, and other nonprofit groups in third-world countries. It's not clear from the article, however, whether they also accept used software, journals, etc. I tried to call the organization last October, but was told by an answering service that the company was undergoing a reorganization, but that I should try to call back in a month or so. I just tried to call back this afternoon, but got the same answering service with the same story. If you are interested, you can try to reach Global Technology yourself. The address is P. O. Box 4861, Boulder, CO 80306, and the telephone number is (303) 440-1115. I believe Philip Friedman is one of the founders, and perhaps their current president. I think this sounds like a great idea, but, unfortunately, this particular organization does not seem to have its act together. Does anyone know anything more about Global Technology? Sincerely, Nancy Moser NMOSER@NAS
