[net.space] contributions for the Shuttle...

mcgeer%ji@UCBVAX.BERKELEY.EDU (Rick McGeer) (02/06/86)

NASA has set up an account to hold contributions received; presumably,
if the Congress authorizes another (or dare I hope, two more) Shuttle(s), the
money sent in will go that far. I would also imagine that that sort of
tangible support would go a long way to convincing the Congress to authorize
another shuttle.

On another front, the US Space Institute in Colorado Springs has set
up a fund; I'll post the address tomorrow. They're getting 100 of my
hard-earned (ha!) smackers, which isn't very important; but apparently one
major corporation has pledged 4% of its profits, which (the 4%) they expect
to be $250,000 for 1986.
