I decided to cross-post this to ibmtcp-l as well as tn3270 ----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Using the following: Ultrix 3.1 tn3270 4.1.1 (right off ucbarpa.berkeley.edu last week) vt100 definitions in /etc/termcap define a 24x80 screen I am using telnet to logon to VM/SP/HPO release 5 with IBM FAL TCP/IP 1.2.1. HOWEVER, some screens such as the VM logon screen and whenever I use "q disk" do not display correctly. Any ideas about what's wrong? Also, often new screens do not completely write over previous screens.

Try turning on "auto wrap" on your VT100 (or whatever is emulating a VT100). By default, the "terminal" does not move the cursor to the start of the next line when it gets to the end of the current line in most VT100/ANSI implementations. (some people prefer this; some don't) But the I/O routines used by TN3270 (parts of TERMCAP ?) expect it. Gee ... the trouble we go thru to save a CR/LF :-) Rick Troth <TROTH@RICEVM1.RICE.EDU> ------------- Rice ONCS VM Systems Support
