The FAL SMTP code appears to generate source routing in the headers all the time when transfering mail to the RSCS/MAILER world. Why? For example, mail comes to me adddressed to @nrcvm01.nrc.ca:larry@nrcvm01.nrc.ca when all that is necessary is larry@nrcvm01.nrc.ca. I just had a complaint from a user that the JANET gateway at Rutherford bounced his mail because it had source routing in the From: header. I gather that source routing can be turned off; what are the consequences of doing so, vs leaving it on? If source routing is an official standard, why doesn't the JANET gateway support it? Thanks for any enlightenment that can be sent my way. *------------------------------------+----------------------* |Larry Bradley | LARRY@VM.NRC.CA | |Communications Manager | Larry.Bradley@NRC.CA | |National Research Council of Canada | LARRY@NRCVM01 | |Networks Branch | | |M60, Montreal Road | (613)993-0240 | |Ottawa, Canada K1A 0R6 | FAX:(613) 954-2561 | *------------------------------------+----------------------*
