I can pick up both KDKA 1020 (Pittsburgh) and WBZ 1030 (Boston) on a decent night from a normal AM radio in Toronto (subject to occasional drowning out by Toronto stations at 1010 and 1050). I remember one night several years ago, listening to a hockey game between the Penguins and the Bruins, and being able to hear both announcers on the same radio at the same time. I can receive KDKA quite well. All I need to receive it is a short piece of wire, a diode, and any high-impedance audio amp. I live about a mile from the (50KW ERP) transmitter! :-) ---Bob Hoffman, Pitt CS, Pittsburgh PA

Years ago in Berkeley, Calif. during a low in the sunspot cycle, I heard KDKA in Pittsburg for a few minutes, then KOA (in Denver?) clobbered it.
