NOP@GACVAX1.BITNET (Let there be...MORE light.) (01/18/90)
(Thanks to the people who helped me with my StarDrive questions. My SCSI module is hooked up and awaiting the arrival of the drive.) This weekend I need to make a videotape of a lot of graphic data sitting on some unix machines. (It's a bunch of pans and zooms on a four-dimensional extension of the Mandelbrot set, in case you're dying of curiosity.) I intend to use the Amiga as a low-end frame buffer, since it's pretty much impossible to videotape the video the Iris or NeXT put out. I've pretty much figured out how to drive the VCR in something approximating single-frame mode. I've made arrangements to get the VCR, the Amiga and a NeXT in the room at the same time with the proper serial configuration. The only problem now is to get the (rather large amount of) image information to the Amiga. I've used DNet before, but I have a rather old version. I'm looking for a DNet distribution with the NFS handler. It would save a lot of time to be able to mount part of my unix directory structure on the Amiga. If you know of a server I can order a recent DNet from, or if you have the files on line, I'd greatly appreciate your help. Thanks in advance, Jay Carlson nop@GACVAX1.BITNET <--- reply here. gac.edu isn't registered yet. I hear ANSI is forming a committee to work on netwide standard disclaimers.
