CVESSEY@UPEI.CA (Today is the last day of the first part of your life.) (02/04/90)
Hi! Long time since I've been in contact with anyone here on the list -- it's my fourth year, and I'm really busy, getting ready to graduate. Apologies for missing anyone or anything! I have a question -- has anyone else noticed a dysfunction between ARP1.3 and the PIPE: device provided with AmigaDOS 1.3??? When I MOUNT PIPE: while using ARP1.3, things don't work. For example: CLI 1: COPY somefile PIPE:a CLI 2: TYPE PIPE:a This results in (from CLI2) an unknown pipe. In other words, it can't find the pipe it's looking for. Any ideas? I've tried various combinations of NEWCLI's, just in case there's some discrepancy between the bootup CLI and a NEWCLI. I am using ASH. I make a point of breaking my STARTUP-SEQUENCE immediately on bootup so no other utilities (i.e. CONMAN) have a chance to exist. Please send a copy of comments/solutions directly to me, because our list mail goes to a public board, and is purged every 14 days, so I might miss a reply! Thanx . . . Chris Vessey <CVESSEY@UPEI>

Chris, ARP's AShell requires that you use the PIP: device that is provided with CONMAN. Make certain you get the latest version, there was a bug in the older CONMAN's pipe that caused the system to lock up...
