[bit.listserv.i-amiga] Question.... spliting up large files

SEB@CRNLNS.BITNET (Selden E. Ball, Jr.) (02/08/90)

Michael (and other friendly Amigans),

There is a "standard" command procedure used on the INFO-VAX mailing
list (called VMS_SHARE) which breaks up a large file into mailable pieces.
VMS_SHARE is only needed on the originating system.
The pieces are concatenated at the receiveing VAX/VMS system, and
executed using the "@" command. This will produce the original file(s).
Unfortunately, this procedure only works for VAX/VMS systems.

You should contact the manager of your local system to see if
VMS_SHARE is already available. If not, I could send you a copy.
In VMS_SHARE'd format, it consists of 8 pieces, each about 30 blocks.

I hope this helps.
