Greetings... Is anyone out there as frustated with VM Kermit as I am? I have tried Diga! and VT100 (ver. 2.8) and neither have worked. On both I can upload fine, but when I try to download (from the VM/CMS to my 2000) VT100 gives me "timeout error searching for character". Diga! works fine on the FIRST download, but each subsequent time I get the dreaded timeout error again. I have made sure the max packets match, am using transparent mode (text mode is worse), and have tried the server mode. Someone please help!!! Does anyone know if A-TALK III works? If it helps, the version of VM/CMS Kermit I am forced to use is 2.01 (May 1985). Frustrated and Lost, Charles (CALDRIC1@UA1VM)

I suggest you obtain Handshake. The latest version is 2.12A, and includes the best Kermit implementation I know of for the Amiga. I have never had any problems with it.

I think I'd suspect the mainframe Kermit rather than the one in your terminal emulator. I use Kermit regularly between my A1000 and VMS Kermit (sorry, I don't know what version) and have no difficulties. I've used VT100 (v 2.6), VT100jrbII, VLT, etc. and have always had a reliable connection at 1200 baud. Surely there's a more recent version of Kermit available for VM/CMS. Does your CC staff know about the Kermit server available through BITNET? S.

I just recieved version 1.3 (newest) and it supports use of external protocols. Plus it comes with an enhanced Kermit protocol. Jim Martin
