Reid, You wrote about how you are able to understand intellectually the deepness of God's love for us, but that you have a hard time understanding at an emotional level this fact about God. I found my emotional understanding was helped by considering my love for other people. There have been a few persons in my life who I have loved unconditionally: no matter what these people do, I intend to try always to do what is best for them, even (it's crossed my mind) dying for them if necessary. I don't claim that in practice I've always acted out my loving intentions towards them, and unfortunately I don't have this kind of love for everyone. But I know that my love for these few people is a fact, and I have confidence that if it is possible for me to have this kind of love towards others, then it is even more possible for God to have this kind of love towards myself and others, in an even more perfect manner. I think many people have this emotion of love for certain family members or close friends, and without prying into your personal life, I hope that you have also experienced it and can benefit from the analogy. Praying that everyone's love may increase, Mike
