The letter I just saw posted about Madelyn Murray O'Hare is something that has
been floating around for years, and has driven the FCC crazy. If we take a
close look at it you can see just how old it is.
First of all, I remember when we had prayer in the schools, and I remember
when it stopped...I was in second grade at the time. That would make it about
1963. The letter states that she had school prayer removed 15 years ago. Hmm,
according to my calculations, 15 years ago would be 1975. On the other hand,
15 years from 1963 would be 1978. Could it be that this letter dates back from
1978 and that efforts to quash this rumor never seem to catch up with it.
Please, do NOT send any letters to the FCC about this, this letter shows up
every year and they do the best they can to point out to people that there is
absolutely no truth in it at all.
By the way, God must have a sense of humor...I read somewhere that Madelyn
Murray O'Hare's son (the one she took the entire issue to court for) became a
Christian.
