This may be a completely unreasonable request, but my
curiosity is getting the better of me. I know that if the
question is answered by most of you, I am going to feel like
a complete idiot for ever having formed preconceptions about
this particular thing.
I have corresponded with most of you in a private way, and I
must admit that when I hear one of you saying something about
a particular doctrinal issue, I think to myself, "you know,
that sounds a lot like what the _________ believe. I bet
he/she is a ________, too." Isn't that pitiful? Well, maybe
it's not a heinously perverse crime, at least in view of the
fact that I'm surely not the only one who does that, but I
also recognize that no matter how many people do it, it's not
right. I would like to ask you all, if you're willing, to
dispel any of my preconceptions about your particular
fellowships or affiliations by sending me E-mail containing
the following info: Your name, your geographical region or
university, and the particular church you attend. This will
help me a great deal, because I'll have the facts and not
mere preconceptions.
Don't get me wrong; I'm not a big fan of labels and gross
categorization, but since we *do* that to ourselves, it is
sometimes helpful to know with what kinds of groups an individual
feels most comfortable. I shall not use the information to
judge or condemn anyone, but only to help me avoid the
tendency to prejudge based upon sketchy "doctrinal"
similarities.
Thanks in advance to those of you who volunteer to help me
out.
