[bit.listserv.christia] children

Thought I'd share a story about my oldest daughter, Rachel, 11.

First some background. I also have a set of twins, Sarah and Susannah, 9, and
Joel was 1 back in November. I constantly tell my children, teasing, that
I'll never get married and have children because I'm sure I'd make a rotten
dad and I know children would drive me up the wall.

Now so you won't think this awful of me, Rachel was reading one of the little
fliers that they put out here at the State Department of Health about having
a good self image. She had a serious look on her face, so I told her I didn't
think she had to worry about that. I finally got her attention, she looked
up and said, "What, oh this. I don't have to worry about my self image, I
have a great opinion about myself!"

Well, I guess that was one story. Last night she said "Daddy." I said "What?"
She said "Ah, ha, you dooo have children! You just said 'what' to my 'daddy'.
I said "Oh, yea. Ah, nope, it was just a mistake..." Rachel responded, "Do
you think you'll ever have kids?". "No." "How 'bout if they were smart?"
"Well,.. Maybe if they're smart." "Ok, you're in luck. I'm smart!"

I love my little girl. Children are indeed a blessing from God. If she is
outside playing, and if she is within 3-5 houses from home when I pull in
the drive, she runs and gives me a great big hug and tells me she missed
me. Makes you feel good all over.

I hesitate sharing this one, but Linda and I were talking last night about
a posting of someone who denied Jesus was God... You know. Anyhow Rachel
asked something like "What in the world are you talking about?". I told
here "One of my posts. The person claimed Jesus was not God, but simply
a good man that had a "Christ" spirit or force upon Him." Rachel said
"So...... The man's sick." I think this is why it is so necessary to
train the children early in life. Rachel accepted the Lord back when she
was about 5-7 and about a year later got the twins to do the same.

She will share with me that she likes this friend and that friend, but this
one doesn't know the Lord. She doesn't make any judgements, but thinks this
 is sad.
