Michael, I have never heard of any Scriptural justification for being "slain in the Spirit", so I would be interested in your comments in this regard. Probably you should start by defining it, so that everyone knows what we are talking about. Thanks, Mike

I'll dig up the scriptures for you, or let someone else. I wanted to answer
this quick in case someone else shared your concern. Scriptures. When the Jews
came to get Jesus, He asked who they looking for. They said "Jesus of
Nazareth", Jesus said "I AM", and "they fell back as dead". When the tomb was
opened, the angel appeared, and the guards fell down as dead. When John was on
the island of Patmos and "in the Spirit on the Lord's day", Jesus came to him,
and he fell down as dead.
What happens? This may have happened to you. Someone starts praying for
you, you get feeling warm all over, and you realize you are "losing control".
You tell the Lord, "Hold on, I can't take anymore." and He does. If you don't
concern yourself with this, then you may be "slain in the Spirit". This is not
some Brownie point to attain, but may well happen. I've hand hands laid on me
and been prayed for for perhaps 1-10 minutes and got slain gradually, and
there have been times that it felt like someone poured a river of warm water
on me and down I went.
I've only had one person I prayed for ever got slain. I did pray with the
elders over finances once though and one of the elders almost went under. I
thought he was swaying a bit. After wards, he told me "Those were some mighty
powerful hands, I could feel the power." Mind you, it wasn't my power. I've
been, or had been strapped, for funds for so long, I can identify when things
are tight.
Anyhow, I guess that's about it. God comes down upon you with His Spirit,
and it is so overpowering, so good, that you "lose yourself" and before you
know it, you are horrizonal. Hope that helps.
In His Love,

I'm sorry, but I'm afraid that I'm completely lost. Could someone please define being slain in the Spirit again? I don't see any connection with Kurt's verses, either. Could someone please help me out on this? Gretchen Miller
