     Another reason that Apple IIs are being copied and Commodore 64s are not,
is that the 64s contain custom chips that are hard to impossible to obtain. For
example the sound and video chips  in the 64. It is one thing to copy the design
of a board or system. It isl much more difficult to copy a chip. As far as I
know, the Apple IIs do contain any custom chips.
