[bit.listserv.games-l] SimCity

C08926RC@WUVMD.BITNET (Rob) (01/10/90)

I just bought SimCity, but I'm having some problems. Whenever I try
to run one of the scenarios, it gives me a "Fatal Error: Couldn't
Alloacate a Buffer." Also, if I create a new city, eventually it gives
me another Fatal Error, something about memory.

I have tried this on both a Compaq portable with 640k and a V-20 chip,
and an Epson Apex II with 640k.

Anyone have any ideas about what's happening here?

Thanks to everyone for your help. Now why didn't I think about that?

I think I might have a bad copy, because it still wouldn't work. I decided
to run the install program and make another copy, but the install program
wouldn't work. I'm going to exchange it for another copy today and see
how that works. I'll keep you informed...

Hello,
Does anyone out there know the command to embezzle funds in the Mac
Version of SimCity?

                                     Thanx,
                                     Biff Coon

To embezzle funds, enter FUND. Note: It must be in capitals and you can
get up to $80,000 total as many times as you need.

As an aside: this was probably a designers tool and wasn't supposed to
be part of the shipped version. It may not work forever.

Which computers is SimCity available for, and how much does it cost?

You can also CHEAT Sim City by using FEDIT. Just Figure what the HEX code
for 20000 (the Starting about of money in SimCity) then change that to what
ever amout you wish!!! (Do this to the Save Game file)

Entering the incorrect password would result in endless disasters;
so much that you will never be able to get the game going.
(even after disabling it!)

I have no hints. I only know that pressing shift then typing in
fund or maybe funds would give you more $ to spend. I also heard
that building at borders gives a higher population.

PS Got any hints?

PAPP@BCVMCMS.BITNET (John F. Papp) (02/08/90)

Those of you who have played SimCity, have you PAID Maxis for the hint
for embezzling funds or did you just come by it through discussion with
other players? I'm curious to know if the packet they sent you
was worth it. Along the same lines, I know you can get upto $80,000
but though experimentation, it seems a disaster strikes after several
consecutive trips to the till without spending anything. Has anyone
seen this and does Maxis address this in their hint doc?

Curious 'bout it?
