NetData isn't anything misterious (to the end user), it's merely a file transfer protocol IBM devised for it's network nodes, that is, all nodes that are based on an IBM machine has file transfer capabilities based on the NetData format; the advantage of it over other formats is (I think) it doesn't care about the record lengths in the file, if it's binary or text, etc etc. So, if I developed a game called 'Alien Blasters from the 6th Dimension' and wanted to send the file to a friend that has his account on another Itty Bitty Machine, then I'd merely do a sendfile file type mode TO myfriend hisnode and presto. I don't know if I could do this to a VAX running VMS, but I'm quite sure I can't do it to a VAX running ULTRIX (we have one here, and I can't send binary stuff to it, I'm gonna try uuencoding it before sending it via email) Hope this helps...
