Dear gameplayers, I'm seeking desperately for the Nethack Manual. Could someone please send me that manual? I really need it. Regards.

Concerning the much mentioned Nethack Manual: I don't think I'm alone in wanting this very important piece of modern literature ! - Surely a sensible think to do would be for someone out there to put a copy on their machine in a place where we can all access it, using, say, Anonymous Ftp .. this would cut down on the many requests being be sent to the list, and we can all be happy :-) If this can't be done (and I'm sure someone out there must have the space), send ME a copy, and I'll redistribute it using my own mail-server here, though with the restrictions on disk space I have on my poxy little machine would make that a last option !! Any1 wishing to place the much requested Nethack Manual on a fileserver, I would be willing to donate the 1 I have for the cause. I'm sure it can go right along with the hints files (JFORD, you interested???). BTW: If you're wanting for a copy, and can't wait for a fileserver, drop me a line. When I get a chance, I'll fire one off to you. -John- Boston College

PAPP@somewhere: The nethack manual was the third or fourth file placed on the server in pub/games/solutions (least, I *hope* its the manual). However, if you would care to upload it to pub/games/solutions/00uploads I would appreciate it and see if they are the same. All: The solutions directory at MIBSRV.MIB.ENG.UA.EDU (130.160.20.80) is for whatever solutions *you* (not I, not "that guy@OZ") place there. I'm not sure why people are not putting more there (except for one person, R1DEC@AKRONVM, who has uploaded *ALL* the files there so far). The disk space is free and available. Get off your butts, people. All files in that directory are ASCII (*not, not, not (get the hint) binary). ---------- The history of every major civilization tends to pass thru three distinct and recognizable phazes, those of Survival, Inquiry and Sophistication.
