[bit.listserv.sas-l] dates

UNCSM1@UNC.BITNET (Sally Muller University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) (02/05/90)

There have been a number of questions recently about dates. SI
gave a presentation on 6.06 for our SAS Users Group Meeting. Ray
Walters, from SAS, mentioned some dates:

*  Mainframe
For Steve Druck, XA Exploitive mode for VM will first be
available SAS 6.08 (this allows saving segments above the 16MB
line for CMS XA mode users). XA Exploitive mode for MVS/XA
will be available in 6.06. However, same thing for MVS/ESA
will be available with SAS 6.08. SAS 6.08 will be going to QA
(Quality Assurance) early 1991. (See below for PC 6.08.)
Exploitive mode for Vector processing will also come with
   6.08.

* SAS 6.06 for mainframe (MVS, VM, VMS) still to come by SUGI.

* SAS/CONNECT will come with 6.06 and will support TCP/IP between
   PC running DOS and host.

* User written procedures will not be allowed in 6.06, but a
separate product, a TOOLKIT (no name yet), released second
   quarter 1990.

   PC
* PC SAS 6.04 and will be released this April (possibly Fool's
Day). Will be *** DOS *** maintenance version. It will
include the new statistical procs such Calis, Logistic, etc.
It will have VGA device drivers and a DBASEIV interface.

* For Dave Jacobowitz, SAS says there will be no 6.06 but a
6.08 (?) and the DOS extender that you mentioned will be
   part of Microsoft windows...
6.08 PC SAS for OS/2 and a parallel version for DOS released
first quarter 1991 (target date January 1). It will require
Microsoft Windows (Version 3.0), which includes a DOS
   extender.

* 6.07 UNIX SAS released fourth quarter 1990. Will include SAS INSIGHT
something similar to to JMP, SAS LAB, and a GRAPHICAL EDITOR, all
of which will be in the 6.08 versions of MVS, VM, VMS versions of
   SAS.
