Recently there was some conversation on the network concerning a stray ";" at the end of the definition for the SAS$IMAGE logical in the SAS518.COM procedure provided by the SI for VMS. We had a problem with the ICP (Installation Certification Procedure) for SAS/AF. We received an error message from the test that was different than the "expected" error message. Actually, not only was it different but when I reported the problem to tech support, their investigation found that the error message did not exist anywhere in the SAS 5.18 release. The error message did exist, however, in the 5.16 release. I have no idea how a ";" which syntactically in VMS does not appear to be a problem could cause such a situation. In any case, this message is a large THANK YOU to those of you who publicized this problem on the list and a warning to other VMS sites that there maybe problems more serious that just performance related issues at stake. We are running SAS Version 5.18 on a VAX 8800 with VMS 5.2.
