[bit.listserv.sas-l] SAS Graph and HP LaserJet

CCOSRSWY@UIAMVS.BITNET (Joe Svec) (02/10/90)

Thanks to Paul Marsh for the his summary on using the HP LaserJet
with SAS/Graph! It sounds like PlotterInACartrige is what will be
necessary to produce hundreds of graphs with one PROC GCHART; BY CODE;

Many other people have posted messages saying that they use a
PostScript laser printer such as the Apple LaserWriter to produce
graphics from SAS/Graph... We have a LaserWriter (and an HP LaserJet).

The question is: Which would be "better"?

An HP LaserJet with a PlotterInACartrige cartrige & 1.5 MB, or
an Apple LaserWriter OR some OTHER PostScript printer...???

We don't have the 386 machine with 4 MB or SAS yet, and I'm assuming
that if they go for for my proposal (which is that we could
save enough money in one year to pay for it ALL) that they will
get the machine and a printer to go with it - I'm trying to
figure out WHAT KIND of printer to GET...

I assume that the Apple LaserWriter (anyway) is more expensive
than an HP LaserJet decked out with a PlotterInACartrige...

Is PostScript faster than HPGL (or whatever HP bed plotters use)?
What would be the "best way to go..."?? (We would probably use the
printer for "everyday" word processing with WordPerfect5.0 when it
wasn't being used for graphics)
