You are absolutely correct that Advanced (and SFT) NetWare 286 doesn't "die gracefully" (anybody know if 386 is any better?) We have gotten the infamous NMI ABEND on various occasions and the causes have ranged through all of the following: * Bad memory chip: Find and replace chip. * I/O bus too fast for network card (e. g., old IBM token ring): Replace card or add wait states to I/O bus. * Conflicting I/O and/or memory addresses on cards: Change one or the other to avoid conflict. * Not enough memory: Add some more. * Malfunctioning Server network board: Locate and replace it. * Malfunctioning CLIENT network board putting bad packets on the network! Easy to fix, hard to find. * Unknown . . .
