>What does netware 386 v3.1 support for TCP/IP really mean? Do it mean:
>1) I can FTP to a novell server
>2) I can Telnet to a novell server and run a DOS session from a VT-100 on
> a terminal server
>3) my DOS workstation talk to a novell server with TCP or IP protocols
> rather than IPX, SPX protocols

I do not believe it has been fully defined yet, but I read it that the
NetWare server can, if your desire, take the place of a UNIX box (say a
SUN workstation) and will allow UNIX stations transparent access to the
data and other resourses provided on the server. The STREAMS protocol
stack will allow multiple protocols (XNS, TCP/IP, OSI, SNA) to share
a single network card without conflict

Therefore, I would expect a FTP server, a TELNET server, and a SMTP server
   for example, to be included.

   1. Yes, I believe FTP to a server will be included.

   2. No, I do not think a VT-100 terminal will be able to run a DOS session
from the Novell file server directly...
Perhaps if will be able to Telnet in and utilize a tool such as the
NetWare Access Server or SQL server. I still think there will be
problems reconciling differences in graphics displays. For text based
applications, I do not see a problem.

   3. Yes.. Only you will be able to talk either or both. The server will be
able to deal with whatever environment you throw at it. The server
does the translation, not the workstation similar to what the MAC
       VAPs do today.
