We have 15 Novell networks on campus, and initially we set most
of them up in Non-dedicated mode for economic reasons, but to our chagrin
we found that there were too many problems associated in running them
this way. Printer support for programs running from the server shell was
unreliable, and the occasional program would not run from the server but
would from any of the true workstation. Not to mention the Secretary who
rebooted the server when the shell jammed on her. Speaking for an office
that has to centrally support mulitple networks with varying levels of
end user expertise, dont look for network trouble and stay away from the
non-dedicated mode if at all possible.

P.S. what is the name of that undocumented Novell Util that will
change the Net Addr of a server without re-genning? Thanks....

The utility is DCONFIG. You can find it on either the AUXGEN disk or the
BRGEN-1 disk (in version 2.15).
