>I am looking for information anyone can offer about a good tape system >that can back up a variety of platforms. The ideal machine would >backup Novell servers (286 & 386, both PC and Mac files), MS-DOS >workstations and Macintosh workstations and probably have a SCSI >interface. If such a beast doesn't exist, what is the best tape system >around? >The following criteria are important: > Are Macintosh files backed up? > What type of workstation is required (XT, AT, etc)? > Can the drive be adapted for use with Netware 386 (by running > a NLM) > Is unattended backup possible >If you can include addresses and phone numbers for the company that >would be great. >Finally, if anyone has advice about Tallgrass, Irwin, Maynard, >Mountain, Emerald, and Gigatrend I would like to here from you. >Thanks very much. >* Paul Nazario * Go with the Maynard line. They are very reliable. PC and MAC backups are no problem. Any PC can be used for the backup. NetWare 386 files can be backed up. THERE IS NO BACKUP SYSTEM ON THE MARKET TODAY THAT CAN DIRECTLY BACKUP ALL NETWARE 386 BINDERY AND NEW DIRECTORY RIGHTS. Maynard has stated that they will have this by the second quarter. Unattended backups are possible.
