Paul: Re Novell E-mail with BITNET gateways ... it depends on how you want to get from the Novell world to the BITNET world. If you are willing to do it via a TCP/IP system, then there are ways. We are using Network Courier, from Consumer's Software in Vancouver. Although the currently distributed version does not have a gateway for TCP/IP, I am beta-testing one for them now. It uses a PC as a gateway, with an Ethernet card connecting to our campus TCP/IP backbone, and another network card to connect to our Novell lan. The SMTP gateway directs its mail (and gets its mail from) the IBM FAL/SMTP product. With this system, people on the Novell LAN can send mail to users on the VM system, or to BITNET users, or to TCP/IP network users (Sun's, VAXen, etc). It is working fairly well; I have reported the odd problem to Consumer's. They also have an X.400 gateway and a PROFS gateway that ARE in production; it would be possible to use those to link to VM as well. They are working on a Mac package as well; I am beta testing it, but haven't started with it ... probably another couple of weeks yet before I get the hardware/software set up on my Novell system. Hope this helps; f you want more info, contact me. *------------------------------------+----------------------* |Larry Bradley | LARRY@VM.NRC.CA | |Communications Manager | Larry.Bradley@NRC.CA | |National Research Council of Canada | LARRY@NRCVM01 | |Networks Branch | | |M60, Montreal Road | (613)993-0240 | |Ottawa, Canada K1A 0R6 | FAX:(613) 954-2561 | *------------------------------------+----------------------*
