I'm putting together a lab of mostly PS2/30/286's, a few AT&T 6300's, and three Kaypro Professional Computers (old XT-semiclones). The Kaypros have Phoenix BIOS 2.03M, and IBM T/R II adapters. The IBM T/R diagnostic fails with error code 166E0 and message "Primary Adapter Setup Initialize Command Failed." IPX does not load, returning "Error Initializing Token Ring Board." The switch at the back of the Kaypros (which I assume to be a speed switch) has no effect on the errors. There are no other devices in the Kaypros except in one case a hard drive controller and in all cases a floppy drive controller. Is there anything that can be done (like a new BIOS or something), or are the Kaypros on the road to BoatAnchor status for the upcoming summer holidays?
