Greetings, Has anyone ever tried setting up a netware network with both macs and PC's attached that can access a common cdrom server such as the meridian or CBIS units? Or is this completely out of the question because of the dependence on MS Extensions to dos. John Rutherford Central Conn. State Univ.

Or is this completely out of the question because of the >dependence on MS Extensions to dos. ---------------------------------- Now this is an interesting problem. Here are some things to think about: 1. The CD would have to be a REAL network drive. This leaves out products like MAP assist. Does Meridian mount to a server with a VADD? Is it a REAL NOVELL DRIVE? 2. The real problem is the software. The search software would have to either run on the workstation (this is how it works now) and therefore you will have to have two versions (MAC and DOS) *OR* it could run in a Data Base server (SHADES OF NW386!) and just require a communications stub in the work station! (of course, still requiring TWO versions of the software) This is of course how mainframes work. We use PRISM on an IBM mainframe from both Macs and MSDOS machines with a terminal emulator. Just some thoughts... Dkb. ******************************************************************** David K.
