Can anyone tell me if there are any problems running an NE2000 card in in an AST 386/33 for use as a server. I would guess not but since I have had no experience with 33MHz machines I would like to hear from someone who is actually doing that. How about problems with drivers that might work fine at slower speeds and break at 33MHz? Also a (possibly) related but different question: Can anyone tell me what the memory requirements for ethernet drivers in the workstation are? The NICs would be NE1000s and the drivers would be whatever Novell provides for NE1000s with 2.15C. This question is driven by the need for the drivers to coexist with a DBase IV (alias memory hog) application which has been known to break on ArcNet systems depending on which drivers were used. The Novell RX-Net drivers used more memory than the other (don't know which) ArcNet drivers and the DBase IV application ran out of memory! We are talking about a difference of around 10K in driver memory requirements. Thanks for any help. *---------------------------------------------------------------------------* | | | Cameron Bunch U.S. Navy Calibration Laboratory | | ADP Support Engineer, Rota, Spain | | Programmer/Analyst, | | Sometimes Repair Technician, ARPA: CBUNCH@PAXRV-NES.ARPA | | & Jack-of-All-Binary-Trades.
