Hi, I would appreciate it very much if I could retrieve information to the following 3 topics. I realize that there has been a lot of talk about harddisk upgrades on this topic and I have saved the most interesting mail pieces in printed form. Just before I take the plunge though I woul like some reassurance. I would like to hear from administrators who have my constellation. As I figure, I will encounter the least sur- prises if I just repeat what has been implemented successfully in other network setups. Another problem I have is to find 3rd party vendors because IBM pricing will not allow my orders to see light at the other end of the tunnel. Server: IBM PS/2 Model80, 2 Mb RAM, 111Mb harddisk NIC NI 9210, Repeater: Cabletron Multiport Repeater Stations: 20 IBM AT clones, 1Mb, 2 FD 8 MAC SE, 1Mb, 2 FD (on Localtalk and MAC se/30 server for right now) I would like to: 1. Upgrade server memory to 4Mb on the mother board. The SIMM should be a 1-2Mb module at 85 ns. Any 3rd party product that will work right. Do I need more than 4 Mb to run the MAC cluster/VAP's and an additional harddisk? 2. Upgrade harddisk space to utilize the capabilities of the existing ESDI controller presently installed. IBM claims that an additional 315 Mb drive can be run from that controller board. True? What 3rd party harddisks have worked properly for you? 3. In order to put the MAC clusters on the NOVELL server I have a choice of the DAYSTAR DIGITAL board LT200 MC or the DAYNA Communications board DAYNATALK MC. Is there anybody out there who has installed and tested either of the 2 cards? Thanks so much in advance. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Hilde Gesch BITNET: LCO113@URIACC Micro Computer Consultant INTERNET: LCO113@URIACC.URI.EDU Academic Computer Center University of RI
