PACKET IN AVIATION BAND

What you hear on 131.55 is packet radio. Aeronautical Radio maintains
200 ground stations around the country that feed into a giant X.25
computer network. Ever wonder where the flight attendant gets arriving
gate info minutes before you land ? Via a terminal in the cockpit.
Data such as engine tempature, winds aloaft, etc is downlinked via this
network. All 200 stations operate on 131.55. For more info write:
