copied from packet: From: ka2raf@nn2z.ampr.org (Chris Crosby) To: swls@allbbs Subject: Packet in Aviation Bands PACKET IN AVIATION BAND By Dave Sweigert What you hear on 131.55 is packet radio. Aeronautical Radio maintains 200 ground stations around the country that feed into a giant X.25 computer network. Ever wonder where the flight attendant gets arriving gate info minutes before you land ? Via a terminal in the cockpit. Data such as engine tempature, winds aloaft, etc is downlinked via this network. All 200 stations operate on 131.55.
