I recently received my Sangean 803A service manual and it seems that it might
be fairly easy to add remote control to this reciever. The keypad connects to
the internal uP and optoisolation devices could be used to parallel the keypad.
I would simply enjoy having a remote SW band switch and a Scan Start/Stop
switch. My thought is to use the unused pins on the DIN connector to supply
the switch current to the opto-isolators. A hand unit containing one AA cell,
two current limiting resistors, and two switches could serve as the remote
control. The collector and emitter of the opto-isolator would parallel the key
inside the Sangean 803A.
Has anyone tried this? As soon as my warrenty expires I plan to do this.
