My girlfriend has been listening with me to my Icom R-71A, my Kenwood R-600 and/or my Radio Shack DX-440 and she's decided she likes SWL. While not interested to the same degree I am, she has decided she wants to listen to BBC, Radio Moscow, VOA, Radio Habana and other major broadcasters you can almost pick up on a long piece of wire and a hunk of gallium. What I'm saying is that she needs a good basic radio to hear the big boys and so sensitivity, for example, is not a big concern. I'm looking for a good used radio for her as even the DX-440 at 189.99 (Actually ATS 803A at that price) is a bit much. I'm looking to buy a good used receiver under $100.00 for her to listen to. I visit ham fests and swap meets and am just wondering what brands and models of receiver I might look for. Of course if anyone has a receiver they want to sell in this catagory, please email me. -- Mark E.
