I have an opportunity to purchase a new Uniden Regency R-4020 at a very good price ($155 ). I want it to listen to crews at Stock car races. Is this a good scanner? Can I get a better one at a lower price? If anyone has any experience with this scanner I would appreciatte your input. thanks in advance. Scott Perman

There is a book on racing team frequencies out... I saw it at the local HAM radio store. I have also been to many Camel Pro motorcycle events and listend in on Track-Security-Event Coordinators etc... They were on a regular business band radio. If the scanner will pick up biz bands it should work. The business bands usually are for cabs/tow trucks/cement trucks and other assorted comercial aplications. Tim McT

Hello net, I have a question on something that I hear while listening to the scanner (police). At home and recently here at school, the police seem to go to what they call a "secure channel 1 or 2", all I get is a lot of static, and a tone when they let go of the key at the end. Is this some type of phase inversion or digital encryption or what? I figure that it's one of the two since I can't hear what they are saying. Does anyone know 4 sure? Thanks, Randy WK9M 390624331@uwplatt.edu P. oops-P.S. Hi Brian!
