Will rm -rf / run to completion? In past UN*Xs it wouldn't (in V6 I am told, rm would fork inself for each subdirectory so the rm would fail once "rm" was removed). Would it die when "rm" was removed? When /vmunix, /dev/mem, or the disk devices where remove? When it hit a mount point? Well under SUNOS 3.5 it goes all the way. It gets errors at the mount points (something about out of sync) but does not stop. When it is done all that was left was the mount points, and a core that seemed to be from ypbind. How did I check the core? I left an emacs running, sort of gives you a shell with a lot of builtins. What do you thing happens if you copy /etc/termcap into /dev/kmem? ->Spike -- "The World" - Public Access Unix - +1 617-739-9753 24hrs {3,12,24}00bps
