I don't quite understand your posting about defocussing due to negative curvature being a solution to the Olber paradox. The problem is with the total amount of energy; whether it is focussed or defocussed does not change the situation. Even in the most radical case, where defocussing results in light eventually returning to its source, the problem remains (the brightness of the night sky then has components due to nearby luminous objects). --Geoffrey A.
