Art,

Just wanted to let you and others know that I have indeed spent a
lot of time integrating Amiga speech into a usable form by the
blind.  I am a totally blind computer programmer who has developed
a program called Ami-Talk which allows a blind person to use any
off-the-shelf (well, virtually any) software on the Amiga.  Not
only does it provide speech output for such programs, but allows
you to have control over speech characteristics such as rate,
pitch, how words are pronounced, how punctuation is pronounced,
etc.  It also provides a way for the blind user to manipulate
menus, gadgets, windows, screens, etc. without use of the mouse.
