Index Number: 6030 Hi Nadine, Check around your area for concert dates, since Pearlman is comming here he must touring around the country and you may get lucky and he'll be around your area. The worst thing about pain is the fear of hurting, when you psych yourself up to expect or worry about and always on the alert for it, you have all your concentration on it and that makes it feel worse than if you just take it as it comes. I know it is hard not to be anxious, but why have anxiety attachs as well as pain. Taking pain killers is not a bad thing, if you take them cautiously and occasionally. In one of your posts that I read today you were talking about hurting but posting anyway- if I'm going to hurt anyway I might as well do something I like (I think that was your quote or some words to that order). You have hit the button on the head, and if you work with it and take your mind off the pain it will seem less. I use as a guideline for painkillers the concept that if I can do anything I am ok, if it is so intense that I am basically aware of nothing but hurting and can't concentrate then it is time for a painkiller. Also if I hurt so much that no I can't get to sleep at night and have tried waiting for exhaustion to set in and it hasn't be 4 or 5 am. I take a pill. I find that by setting up some guide lines I don't have to worry about becoming addicted or having to try and function most times muddle headed. This year is my twentieth aniverary of not having a day without pain. I have really been suprised with how much over the years I have been able to live and function with, I would have never beleived it possible for me to go if I had stayed in the frame of mind I initialy had when the pain started. You do build a tolerance to it just like you can to drugs, also you find ways very quickly of putting it in its place, you have already started a philosophy that will move you that way. Sometimes you find away of altering how you do something that cuts down on the pain, maybe it is an adaptive device or just moving in a different way. If you work with the pain instead of letting fear give pain the opporunity to work over you then you can really lessen a lot of the pain as opposed to letting the pain lessen you. Best wishes with this and a prayer. Keep busy, it helps. Pandora -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!157!532!PANDORA.NIGH Internet: PANDORA.NIGH@f532.n157.z1.fidonet.org
